Scholarships
Ten of Midlands Community Foundation’s charitable funds recently awarded scholarships to area students and professionals. They are:
The Alex Shives Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Brenden Fisher. The $2,500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior from either Papillion LaVista or Papillion LaVista South who has participated on the boys or girls golf team at either high school.
The Bob Mohr Baseball Scholarship was awarded to Isaac Pamaran. The $1,500 scholarship is available to students in pursuit of higher education who are enrolled and play baseball for Papillion-LaVista High School.
The Chris Stauffer Scholarship was awarded to Alexa Smith. The $1,000 scholarship is available to graduates of York High School, under the age of 25, who are attending a trade school.
The Dale & Estelle Black Scholarship is available to employees from Brookestone of Papillion and Immanuel Trinity Village who are pursuing continued education in Nursing. Preference is given for those planning to work in elder care. Jennifer Breitwieser received $1,500. Piper Bewley and Rachel Needles received $1,000. Hope Barger, Claire Busch, and Kimber Engel received $500.
The GHS Class of 1968 Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Maddie Burns. The $1,000 scholarship is available to a graduating Gretna High School senior.
The John J. and Doris M. Buford Legacy Scholarship was awarded to Grace Jansen and Kinsley McMahon. This $1,000 scholarship is available to two graduating high school seniors or full-time college students enrolled to major in or currently majoring in nursing or pre-law.
The Kaiti Williams Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kinsley Stover. The $2,000 scholarship is available to a female athlete pursuing a higher education and participating in sports at the collegiate level who is a graduate of Papillion-LaVista South High School.
The Max and Jane Meier Family Scholarship was awarded to Kayla Urzendowski. The $2,500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior from Papillion LaVista High School who plans to further their education in business.
The Papillion Softball Woolhiser Memorial Scholarship was awarded to two graduating female seniors from the Papillion LaVista School District who have played recreational or select softball for the Papillion Softball Organization for a minimum of three (3) years. Amy White and Ava Steadman each received a $1,000 scholarship.
The Sarpy County Bar Association Scholarship was awarded to McKinsey Lathrop and Mallory Blecher. The $1,500 scholarship is available to students studying criminal justice, criminology, sociology, psychology, or pre-law.
In addition, the Elmwood Community Foundation and Gretna Community Foundation charitable funds awarded scholarships. The GCF Scholarships are:
The Addisyn Pfeifer Scholarship was awarded to Holden Dodson, Kinsley McMahon, Chloe Jorgensen, and Maddie Schaffert. The $1,500 scholarship is available to Gretna High School graduating seniors who are NSAA recognized student athletes.
The Bob and Vicki Andersen Scholarship was awarded to Charles Meis. The scholarship is available to a Gretna High School graduating senior who plans to attend trade school.
The Gretna Chamber of Commerce Scholarship was awarded to Gavin Luthi and Melissa VanOeveren. The $1,000 scholarship is available to a Gretna High School graduating senior interested in pursuing a career in business or entrepreneurship.
The ECF Scholarships are:
The Elmwood Murdock Education Foundation Scholarship was awarded to Rose Offner. The $500 scholarship is available to a graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School senior in pursuit of higher education.
The Carolyn Pointer Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Averi Hogue. The $500 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors who plan to earn a degree in education.
The Eggert, Synovec, and Washington Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Morgan Gray. The $500 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors pursuing a degree in music.
The Elmer and Marietta Vogt Scholarship was awarded to Nolan Story and Harrison Koehn. The $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors.
The Margaret Hall Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Charley Hanes. The $800 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors.
The Mark Mortensen Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Abrahm Jones. The $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors pursuing higher education.
The Maxine Cline Scholarship was awarded to Nolan Story and Macy Howard. The $250 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors.
The Willard and Lillian Hall Scholarship was awarded to Isabelle Halferty. The $1,000 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors pursuing higher education with a preference for those studying in the field of agriculture.
The Euclid Masonic Lodge Scholarship was awarded to Averi Hogue and Grace Jacobson. The $1,000 scholarship is available to Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors who plan to attend trade school or a four-year college with a preference for those with a Mason affiliations.
The Joel Furgerson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Kayden Bacon. The $500 scholarship is available to a graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School senior.
The John Bruns Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Rowan Kastens. The $250 scholarship is available to a graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School senior who will be attending a vocational career school.
The Dr. Melvin Luetchens Human Services Scholarship was awarded to Emily Drake. The $500 scholarship is available to a graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School senior with plans to major in the Human Services field of study.
The Steve Backemeyer Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Macy Howard. The $250 scholarship is available to graduating Elmwood-Murdock High School seniors involved in the FBLA, FCCLA or FFA.
